Mountain Garden & Solar Tour

The Loma Prieta Community Foundation (LPCF) will once again host its popular Mountain Garden & Solar Tour on Saturday, May 12. LPCF will have tickets for sale, along with food, drinks and potted plants, at the parking area on Summit Road in front of Building Blocks Pre-School / Gazebo.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the LPCF website at www.lpcf.org and will cost $15 for adults and $5 for children aged 12 or under.  Family passes, which include 2 adults and unlimited number of children or grandchildren, are $50.

You will be able to visit both gardens and solar installations. If you have ever wanted to look at large 50 kW solar installations as well as smaller 5 kW ones, this is your chance. You can talk to the property owners, and possibly the installers, ask questions and get answers. The garden visits are just as informative as you can talk to the gardeners about the challenges they faced and learn how they made their amazing gardens come to life.

Local Master Gardener John Dotter will give three workshops on Sustainable Ecological Garden Renovation & Maintenance at 9:30, 11 AM, and 1 PM at the Villa Del Monte Water Co. Demonstration garden.  Learn how to rejuvenate and improve your overgrown landscapes with cleanup and redesign techniques for a functional, attractive landscape requiring less water and maintenance.  Rooted cutting of perennial, drought tolerant, deer resistant plants will be give away while supplies last.

The Los Gatos Lions will serve lunch at the Gazebo.  You will have your choice of their delicious BBQ hamburgers or hot dogs. Even if you don’t want to take the tour, come down for lunch and visit with your neighbors.
