This week a reader, who asked not be identified, wondered about the purpose of the American Red Cross large container located inside the parking lot at the Los Gatos Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Rd.

To get an answer we contacted Jenny Green, director of marketing at the  center, who said the white receptacle contains emergency supplies for the surrounding community of Los Gatos.

Green said it's located on the right side of the parking lot and that it's been placed there because the Levy Family Campus is designated as a Red Cross Emergency evacuation shelter.

The container has approximately 360 square feet of supplies and the campus has been a designated Red Cross shelter since April 2006, Green added.
