Whiz Kids of the Week— West Valley Red Hawks U13 B Team

Team has won first place in Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association South Division.

The West Valley Lacrosse Club is dedicated to bringing the sport of lacrosse to kids in the West Valley area of Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga and San Jose. The club is committed to teaching lacrosse skills for the game and teamwork skills for life, according to West Valley Red Hawks U13 B Team coach Bob Steinbock.

The mission of the team is to develop a true and lasting love and passion for the game of lacrosse. The Red Hawks are dedicated to developing lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability and respect in a healthy and fun environment. The Red Hawks is a competitive program that develops players in all aspects of the game.

  • West Valley Red Hawks U13 B Team
  • 16 kids from six different schools, some from Los Gatos and Campbell. Its members are Jake Steinbock, Canyon Cali, Brian Krall, Elliot Robinson, JT Belshe, Eric Krall, Ike Ogbogu, Adam Elliott, Liam Kaiser, Cole Bunce, Quincy Owyang, Trent Mack, Jack Weddell, Austin Alman, Spencer Woodard and Jack Geiger.
  • Ages 11-12 years old
  • First place in Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association South Division (5-1)
  • First Place in Scotts Valley U13 Tournament (6-0)
  • Seven players with two-years experience
  • Five players with one-year experience
  • Four first-year players
  • Two players made the NorCal All Star Team
  • Team averaged eight goals per game (16 games) and 3.5 goals against per game
  • Final record 13-2-1, 11 consecutive wins.

Key to team’s awesomeness: "The boys played as a team, trusting each other’s abilities to contribute to the team. They believed they could win every game and played hard to the last whistle. They never ran up the score in any game and showed respect to teammates, opponents, officials and fans," coach Bob Steinbock said.
