What's the Worst Car You Ever Drove?

A new list of 10 cars that probably shouldn't have been made brings back memories.

—By Jennifer Squires

When I was 16 and dreaming of becoming a licensed driver, a family friend offered to sell me an orange Ford Pinto for $600.

I was all in. I thought it would be fun to call the car "Pumpkin" and designed a vine-and-leaf motif to paint on the doors.

But Dad and I mulled this idea long enough for the Pinto's engine to seize up and we politely declined to make the purchase. The Pinto became a lawn ornament in our friend's front yard. I don't think it ever drove again.

Later, I learned the car was a firebomb waiting to happen. The fuel tank sat behind the rear bumper and had a tendency to ignite in collisions faster than 25 mph.

The Ford Pinto rated No. 3. on a list of "10 Cars That Probably Should Not Have Hit the Road" recently published by Wall St Cheat Sheet.

AMC Pacer my grandma used to drive topped the rankings and two 1990s bombs—the Pontiac Aztek and the Plymouth Prowler—rounded out the list.

What's the worst car you've ever driven? Have you owned any of the vehicles on the Wall St Cheat Sheet list? Tell us in the comment section below.
