Animals of all sizes, shapes and varieties joined Father Rick Rodoni last Thursday morning, Oct. 4 at St. Mary’s School, 219 Bean Ave., to be blessed in honor of St. Francis Day.
The blessing of animals at the popular Catholic parish school was in connection with the Feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
Catholic social teaching focuses on care for God’s creation, which includes the love we show to the animals in our care, said St. Mary's School Principal Karen Larson.
Approximately 100 animals, including dogs, cats, hamsters and a chicken, received a blessing, Larson said.
