Shakespeare, the Beach Boys and More

A blood drive, a hard rockin' cover band, the Beach Boys and a little Shakespeare is all on the docket this week in the Los Gatos area.

When/Where: 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oak Meadow Park, 333 Blossom Hill Rd.

Why Go: Classic works of theater at their finest will be on display this weekend at Oak Meadow Park. Macbeth, Friday night and Twelfth Night, Saturday night. All provide plenty of drama, lust and action for those in attendance.

Pricing: $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and kids.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Saratoga Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Road. 

Why Go: The legendary California rockers bring their classic jams to the Bay Area for a one night stay at the Mountain Winery. What better way to close out your weekend than to take in the smooth vocals to "Good Vibrations" and "Endless Summer" one more time.  

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $35 to $89.50. 

When/Where: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., open daily until Aug. 31, 2731 N. First St., San Jose. 

Why Go: Blood donors can beat the heat and get a cool ice cream treat after you're done. The American Red Cross "Pint For a Pint" promotion runs through the end of August and allows any donor that donates a pint of blood to receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream at the nearest Baskin Robbins location.

When/Where: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunday, Los Gatos Town Plaza. 

Why Go: The Shanks, a recent winner of the 98.5 KFOX cover band competition, will rock the town with a healthy mix of hits from Van Halen, ZZ Top, Heart, The Rolling Stones and more. The Summer Concert Series runs until August 28 so don't miss one of your last chances this summer to take in some tunes amongst the beautiful downtown setting.

When/Where: 10 a.m.-4 p.m, daily, 201 S Market St, San Jose, CA 95113, San Jose Tech Museum. 

Why Go: What's cooler than playing with robots anyways? Take the kids and have them explore Mars with robot rover or design their very own robot in the brand-new exhibit located in the Lower Level. 

Pricing: Tickets start at $10

When/Where: 6:30 p.m., Friday, Peninsula Youth Theatre, 2510 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View.

Why Go: This weeks performance is "The Brementown Musicans" where a traveling trio of musicans arrivie in a town that isn't quite fond of new guests. The group eventually wins the town over and earns a hearty supper in the fun-filled musical number.
