Winter storms in the Northeast and Texas are affecting flights in and out of Bay Area airports today.

At San Francisco International Airport, 10 arriving flights and eight departing flights were canceled this morning because of storms affecting New York and Philadelphia airports, airport duty manager Chuck Navigante said.

There have been six flights canceled at Mineta San Jose International Airport, spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said.

She said those flights were heading to or from Dallas-Fort Worth, where ice storms have been occurring.

Barnes said there have been no major delays to East Coast flights yet, but she said there may be minor backups throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Oakland International Airport has seen no cancellations, an airport operations employee said this morning.

He warned, though, that delays and cancellations are possible later in the day. All travelers are advised to check the status of flights before heading to the airport.
