Rich Block, Poor Block: How Do Neighborhoods In Los Gatos Compare?

What are the annual median household incomes in different parts of town?

Drive through Los Gatos neighborhoods and it may be difficult to spot differences between affluence, bringing up the question: is there disparity between different parts of town?

A new data-based website, Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks provides some answers to that question. The site uses U.S. census information compiled from the 2007-2011 American Community Survey to show median household income and monthly rents by census tract.

The data shows that the median household incomes in and around Los Gatos top $100,000 in most neighborhoods.

Along Blossom Hill Road, median incomes range from $120,000 to $148,000. Average incomes are higher the farther east you go.

Near Los Gatos Town Park Plaza, median incomes average $132,000.

The lowest-income areas front Vasona Reservoir and the neighborhoods south of there—from Oak Meadow Park to Highway 9 on the west side of Highway 17. The median household incomes there are about $93,000 a year.

Overall, median incomes in Los Gatos eclipse state averages. The range for median household income in California is $28,000 to $125,000 a year. The statewide middle-class income range is $53,264 to $68,300.
