Pet of the Week—Abandoned Dog Gets New Lease On Life
After living alone on the train tracks and spending many cold and hungry nights, Mrs. Meerkat was rescued by a hero and is now ready for adoption.
Mrs. Meerkat, an 8-year-old Italian Greyhound mixed-breed, was found by a hero after wandering the tracks near the Caltrain maintenance facility in downtown San Jose.
The facility employees began feeding her and gaining her trust until they decided it was too cold for her to be out on her own and one loving employee, Michael Cecconi, and his wife took her in.
The employees pitched in to get her seen by a vet and she received all her vaccinations and a clean bill of health.

Cecconi reached out to Humane Society Silicon Valley to help find her a home and he is fostering her and bringing her to adoption showcases until she meets her perfect match.
