The ticket, worth a total of $421,804, is one of three sold in California that matched five out of the six Mega Millions numbers during Tuesday's draw.
The winning numbers are 10-29-31-35-45.
"Had the tickets matched the Mega number 10, the winners would have split the $240 million jackpot," lottery officials said.
The three winning tickets came from two Bay Area retailers, and one in suburban Los Angeles. Here are the locations:
- Rinconada Liquors, which is located at 1480 Pollard Rd. in Los Gatos (Santa Clara County)
- The Chevron located at 3632 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette (Contra Costa County)
- Town House, which is located at 7941 Eastern Ave. in Bell Gardens (Los Angeles County).
Mega Millions is played in California (and 42 other states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1.
