Los Gatos Tree Lighting Cancelled Due to Rain, Flooding

Parade Saturday at 11 a.m. still on schedule, organizers say.

Due to the current storm hitting the Town of Los Gatos and Town Plaza Park being flooded tonight's tree lighting has been postponed to next Friday, Dec. 7.

The Los Gatos Community Foundation and the Town of Los Gatos had to make the tough decision to reschedule tonight's tree lighting event to next Friday, Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. with the lighting of the tree at 6 p.m. and Santa arriving at 6:01 p.m.

"We wouldn't have the Los Gatos High School band or the Fisher band tonight due to the rain," said Jackie Rose, Los Gatos community outreach coordinator who is co-chair of the event with Sharon Childs, executive director of the Los Gatos Community Foundation.

Los Gatos Parks and Public Works employees are focused on storm response throughout the town due to calls about clogged drains, localized minor flooding and downed tree branches, she added.

The tree lighting cancellation tonight does not affect tomorrow's parade. The Los Gatos Lions Club and the Los Gatos Saratoga Recreation Department will start the parade at 11 a.m. as scheduled.
