Los Gatos Mom Needs Help Covering Medical Tests for Cancer-stricken Son

Mom hopes donations will help cover the costs of ongoing scans and tests to track her son's cancer.

Kestrel A. Pasos is a single mother to 7-month-old son Jaxon Posey whom she says is just learning to crawl. Unfortunately, according to the GoFundMe crowdfunding website, when he was 3-months-old  Jaxon was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that almost always occurs in infants and young children.

After three rounds of chemotherapy at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Pasos, 19, said her son “amazed the world with his improvements.” Once home, Jaxon continued to receive treatments to prevent infections and additional chemotherapy as an outpatient.

Pasos said that even though cancer cells are still present, doctors pronounced Jaxon finished with his treatments and clear of most risks. Nonetheless, Jaxon will continue to get scans and testing until he is 5-years-old.

Because Pasos was uninsured during Jaxon’s initial treatments, financial help from family members and the American Cancer Society helped keep her and Jaxon afloat. But with the prospect of several more years of scans and tests to make sure Jaxon stays healthy, Pasos is seeking donations through her GoFundMe campaign page to help cover the costs.
