Los Gatos Honors Fallen Soldiers at Memorial Day Service

American Legion Post 99 representatives participate in ceremony honoring lost war heroes.

Los Gatos Memorial Park officials held their annual Memorial Day service Monday morning to honor those who have died serving our nation during war.

Beneath cloudy skies, the San Jose Metropolitan Band, under the direction of Greg Bergantz, played Glenn Miller songs, such as In the Mood, and other Armed Forces melodies.

Speakers at the event included Scott Henderson of Los Gatos Memorial Park, Los Gatos Mayor Joe Pirzynski, Charles A. Berls of American Legion Post 99 and Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman. The invocation was given by George DePold, chaplain of American Legion Post 99.

The tribute ended with a prayer and a moment of silence for all fallen soldiers. Overhead, 24 white doves were released into the sky.
