Terraces Hold Groundbreaking For Alzheimer's Facility in Los Gatos

Silent and live auctions Saturday night raise more than $27,000 to help build a new so-called "memory support" building.

Around 150 attendees turned out for The Groundbreaking Gala and Auction Saturday night.

The fete featured 59 items during its silent auction and 11 items during its live auction.

More than $27,000 was raised and donations, according to event organizer Pam Bancroft, are still rolling in.

The funds will go towards the construction of The Grove, The Terrace's new memory support facility designed specifically for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The facility will feature 10 assisted-living and 16 memory care dwellings.

Items like a seven-night stay at a Hawaiin resort plus airfare for two, an Alaskan cruise, dirigible rides out of Moffett Field and two iPad 2s all went to the highest bidder.

Auction items were donated by local businesses, Terrace residents and anonymous donors.
