Art Exhibit, Football, Shakespeare And More

When/Where: 7-9 p.m., Thursday, , 4 Tait Ave., Los Gatos, CA.

Why Go: Crossing Boundaries features the work of Kristin Lindseth Rivera and Wang Ming Jing (Mike) Wang. This week is the final date on the calendar for guests to check out the wonderful works of art displayed in downtown Los Gatos. The artist demostration of these specific pieces began on July 28.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m., Friday, , 20 High School Court.

Why Go: The Los Gatos High School football team hosts Oak Grove High Friday at Los Gatos High. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The juicy non-league matchup of perennial Central Coast Section contenders is one of three marquee games this Friday. Defending state champion Palo Alto High will play Archbishop Mitty Prep-San Jose and St. Francis High-Mountain View will host Willow Glen High. The Wildcats topped Menlo-Atherton High 27-14 on Saturday. Los Gatos will look for a second straight win this Friday night in the home opener. 

When/Where: 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, 42 creek sites along Santa Clara County waterways.

Why Go: Enjoy the beautiful outdoors Saturday morning and serve your community. The Creek Connections Action Group is looking for volunteers for its state Coastal Cleanup Day. Would-be volunteers can find a map of local cleanup sites at www.cleanacreek.org. Locally, volunteers will work picking up garbage in Los Gatos Creek at Vasona Park, from Roberts Road to Lark Avenue. When/Where: 6:30-10 p.m., Saturday, , 140 So. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos.

Why Go: The annual fundraising event is tailored around a one-night benefit performance of a four-act mystery play to raise funds for the Los Gatos Shakespeare Festival for 2012. Presented and produced by Festival Theatre Ensemble, "Broadcast: Murder" takes place in May 1944, in Chicago during the live broadcast of an old-style radio serial, with murderous results! During the course of the show, you'll attempt to figure out the motives of each of the suspects, all while enjoying a multi-course gourmet meal.  

Pricing: $125 per person.

RACE TO THE END OF SUMMER

When/Where: 8 a.m., Sunday, Silver Creek Sportsplex, 800 Embedded Way, in San Jose.

Why Go: Do your heart some good and get a little exercise on the Coyote Creek Trail for a worthwhile cause. Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to participate in this event, which includes a 5K, 10K, half marathon and a children's 1K fun run. Proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Last day to register online is today.

Pricing: $35, $40, $70 and $15 for the 5K, 10K, half marathon and 1K kids' fun run, respectively by midnight today, Sept. 15. On or after Sept. 16, prices increase to $40, $45, $75 and $20, respectively.
