Animal Acts of Kindness And Summer Music Festival Kickoff

Summer outdoor concert kicks off; another animal adoption extravaganza and a fundraiser for homeless animals, a free museum day and another museum program with a focus on nature are our suggestions for this week's Kids' Planner.

When/Where: 5-7 p.m., Saturday, , 333 Blossom Hill Rd.

Why Go: This is the kickoff concert for the ninth Vasona Vibrations summer season.  These family friendly concerts will take place every Saturday in June and July with lots of musical variety—local artists perform Americana, blues, Celtic, bluegrass, jug band, jazz, klezmer, traditional and contemporary folk and more. This summer's festival debuts with the music of Scott T. Miller and the Old Shoes Blues Band.

When/Where: 1-4 p.m., Saturday, , 901 Ames Ave., Milpitas.

Why Go: Usually pets put up for adoption are dogs and cats. But the Humane Society of Silicon Valley reminds us there are more animals out there that need our help. They invite you and your children to come out and meet the variety of birds and bunnies they are sheltering and think about taking one of them home.

Learn about Muir in this kid-f0cused event and see the museum's John Muir exhibit. Enjoy nature crafts and activities. Bring the kids to hear Linda Tringali perform just for them!

Why Go: If you have been meaning to take your kids to the Tech Museum, this may be the weekend to do so, especially of you are a Bank of America cardholder. If you have a Bank of America debit or credit card,  you can get one free admission ticket when you show it with your photo ID at the museum.
