1. The is inviting the public to its Labor Day Grill & Chill, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 5, at 16330 Los Gatos Blvd. The event will include food for purchase from the popular Movable Feast (SJ Eats) food trucks, live music, inflatables and a children's festival. Details: 408-356-5126.

2. The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Community Garage Sale takes place Oct. 1 and the deadline to register is Sept. 9. Get the location of your sale listed in the town's Shopper's Guide. The deadline to register online is today. On Sunday, Oct. 2, the Town of Los Gatos and Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation will hold its annual Second Chance Day Donation Drive at the Adult Recreation Center, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to encourage sellers to give away unsold items for local shelters and nonprofit organizations. 3. View an art exhibit of 24 watercolor paintings of the Statue of Liberty by local artist Laurie Barna, participate in a community art project, and use an interactive map to trace your family's journey to the United States beginning today through Oct. 25 at the , 14855 Oka Rd. Then on Sunday, Sept. 11, the public is invited to a reception commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and honoring the 125th anniversary of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty 1-4 p.m., at the APJCC, 14855 Oka Rd. Refreshments will be served during the artist's reception on Sept. 11. 4. The  is holding its seventh annual Claws for a Cause Lobster Block party fundraiser 5:30-10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at C.B. Hannegan's, 208 Bachman Ave. The event supports the Los Gatos High School Music Boosters, United Flight 93 Heroes Todd Beamer and Mark Bingham Scholarships and other local club and organizations. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased online at www. lglobsterparty.com. Details: Darrell Monda, 408-370-3801.

5. Los Gatos, along with other towns across the country, are "turning teal" this month to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and its silent symptoms. This is the fifth year that the organization Turn the Town Teal has promoted the event to better educate the public about the disease, the leading gynecologic cancer in the U.S. Some of its symptoms include persistent bloating, abdominal pain or pressure, always feeling "full," and bladder/bowel changes, among others. Details: www.turnthetownsteal.org.
