5 Things You Need to Know Today, Sept. 28

Check out the two new exhibits at the Los Gatos History Museum today.

1. New mothers' group meets 9-11 a.m, Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Good Samaritan Hospital Auditorium, 2425 Samaritan Dr., to discuss topics of concern to new moms, with time to share tips and experiences with others. Occasional guest speakers. For mothers with babies from birth to six months. Babies enjoy the outing. Drop-in format. Details: 408-559-201.

2. Attend the Los Gatos Planning Commission meeting tonight, 7 p.m., in the Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St., Los Gatos. Click here to see the agenda.

3. Two new exhibits highlight photos and artifacts from the and Los Gatos Public Library collections. The exhibits are on display 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Wedneday-Sunday at the museum, 75 Church St. The Hooked on Los Gatos photo project began in 2003 to preserve and make accessible the photos and archival documents of the Los Gatos community. In Capturing Los Gatos, Museum visitors will have the opportunity to view historic images of Los Gatans over the past 100 years, many of which have not been published outside of the online project website. Traps, Maps and Money Belts features common and unique artifacts from The Museum Collection that tell a story about different eras and people in Los Gatos history, including anti-prohibition banners from a controversial 1908 town election. 4. The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Community Garage Sale takes place 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 1. To see a list of registered sales, click here. Printed Shopper's Guides are also available for pick up today, Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Town Hall, Los Gatos Library, LGS Adult Recreation Center, Coffee Roasting Company and Whole Foods. On Sunday, Oct. 2, the Town of Los Gatos and Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation will hold its annual Second Chance Day Donation Drive at the Adult Recreation Center, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to encourage sellers to give away unsold items for local shelters and nonprofit organizations. 5. The Magical Glass Pumpkin Patch takes place 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Los Gatos High School.
