1. Skeleton Coast and the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad present the , a scary yet fun place for children and adults of all ages, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14-16; Oct. 21-23; and Oct. 27-31 at Oak Meadow Park, 233 Blossom Hill Rd. 2. Friends of Los Gatos Library will have their quarterly book sale 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, in the lobby of the Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St. Details: 408-399-5700.

3. The third annual Just For Kids Fun Run takes place 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 16 near the Carousel in Oak Meadow Park, 200 Blossom Hill Rd. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. The event raises money for the nonprofit Best Buddies organization, which supports children with disabilities. 4. The deadline for entries in the 55th annual Dec. 3 Children's Christmas/Holidays Parade is 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17. The event is a great family celebration that captures the warmth of the holiday season each year with festive entries, musical wonders and plenty of cheer. 5. Los Gatos Mayor Joe Pirzynski and the Town Council invite you to join them on to kick off the construction of the new Creekside Sports Park 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 930 University Ave. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey to the celebration. One more thing: The Town is soliciting proposals from artists for banner designs for downtown Los Gatos. The banners will be installed in downtown Los Gatos, in the area surrounding Town Plaza Park. Artists must be 16 years of age or older, and must be a resident of Los Gatos, including its unincorporated neighborhoods. Designs must be on the theme of "The History and Arts of Los Gatos," or of "The Flora and Fauna of Los Gatos." Proposals are due by 5 p.m., Jan. 18, 2012. Details: 408-354-6834.
