5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 30

Don't miss the Los Gatos Memorial Park service honoring our nation's fallen soldiers.

1. Pease join our town in honoring our nation's fallen soldiers today, 10 a.m.-noon at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, for a Memorial Day tribute to our veterans and those who served our nation in all capacities and their family members. The service will include a band concert, Boy Scouts placing flags on veterans' graves and refreshments. Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman is expected to speak. Details: 408) 356-4151.

2. After you've paid your respects to our nation's heroes today, don't forget to have a nice picnic with your friends and loved ones.

4. Take your kids 8 years old and over to Lego Club 6-7 p.m. every Tuesday at the , 110 E. Main St. It's a great weekly opportunity for kids to be creative and to make new friends. The library provides the Legos. Details: 408-354-6893. 

5. Burn off those extra calories from your Memorial Day weekend barbecue by planning to get up early Wednesday for a run with Los Gatos resident Christine Kennedy, first-place winner of the Boston Marathon in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the 50+ age division and co-owner of the store. Christine will lead this free beginners running/walking workout at 7 a.m. every Wednesday. The group will meet in front of the store at 55 W. Main St. in Los Gatos—rain, hail or shine—for the workout on Los Gatos Creek Trail. Details: 408-354-7365.
