5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 8

What are you in the mood for today? A concert, an art exhibit or a school summer barbecue?

2. Toddler Storytime is for children ages 2-3 years old at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday at the Los Gatos Public Library, 110 E. Main St. Activities include story-reading, music, and fingerplays. Although the Children's Librarian leads, you can interact with your child as well. This is a free program and is a great place to meet other parents. The library asks that you keep large items in your car, including strollers. Details: 408-354-6893.

3. Take a free computer basics class about library databases at 10 a.m. today on the main floor of the Los Gatos Public Library. Learn how to access downloadable audiobooks and e-books, consumer reports from home and more. Details: 408-354-6891 or http://www.town.los-gatos.ca.us/.

4. Don't miss the "In the Abstract" exhibit noon-4 p.m., Wednesdays-Sundays, at the, 4 Tait Ave. The exhibit features works by abstract artists Ewa Gavriellov (prints), Paula Schales (sculpture) and Neal Boor (paintings). Exhibit runs through July 21. A reception with the artists takes place 2-4 p.m., June 12. Details: 408-354-2646 or www.museumsoflosgatos.org.

5. Make sure and attend Raymond J. Fisher Middle School Picnic & Pops evening of food, fun and music performed by the school's choirs, orchestras and bands. Dinner is from 5-7 p.m. and performances are from 5:8:30 p.m., at the school's quad and cafeteria. There will be a tasty barbecue dinner catered by Little Lou's for $9.50 per person, $7.50 for kids.
