5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 5

Due to inclement weather, today's Nike Animal Rescue Foundation's walk-a-thon fundraiser at Vasona Lake County Park has been cancelled.

1. The Nike Animal Rescue Foundation’s 16th annual “Walk Your Tail Off” for homeless pets scheduled for today, Sunday, June 5, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Vasona Lake County Park has been cancelled due to inclement weather. This is the main walk-a-thon fundraiser for the organization and 97 percent of funds raised are spent on the animals. The event will be rescheduled, according to organizer Eloise Reed. 2.  is hosting a free event today, 10:30-11 a.m., Sunday, May 5, featuring popular children entertainer Andy Z. Join the staff of this super friendly toy store for a fun filled morning of singing and dancing. Andy Z's high energy and clever songs will keep your little ones engaged and enthralled from beginning to end. Everyone is welcome. Details: 408-402-3818. No need to sign up.

3. Don't miss the "In the Abstract" exhibit noon-4 p.m., Wednesdays-Sundays, at the, 4 Tait Ave. The exhibit features works by abstract artists Ewa Gavriellov (prints), Paula Schales (sculpture) and Neal Boor (paintings). 4. Sunset Magazine is having its annual celebration 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at its headquarters, 80 Willow Rd, in Menlo Park. Although a bit far from our town, it's one we recommend since it's set to be a winner. There will be cooking tips from celebrity chefs like Rick Bayless, Traci Des Jardins and Candace Nelson; a look at  the Safeway Outdoor Kitchen, four daily wine seminars, "make it your own" with workshops looking at things you can do as diverse as keeping backyard chickens or making your own home brew, and more, including live music. General admission, $16; seniors $12, children 12 and under, free.
