5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 20

Apply today for vacancies the town has on the Los Gatos Planning Commission and the Los Gatos General Plan Committee.

1. The Los Gatos Town Council is meeting tonight at 7 p.m. inside council chambers at 110 E. Main St. to consider developer John R. Shenk's plan to build two 85-feet-tall office buildings within the Los Gatos Business Park, 90-160 Albright Way and 14600 Los Gatos Blvd., and homes for families and seniors, if needed. The buildings would house , one of the world's leading Internet subscription service providers for movies and TV shows.  Details: 408-354-6834. 

2. Apply today for vacancies the town has on the Los Gatos Planning Commission and the Los Gatos General Plan Committee. The deadline to apply is July 22, 2011. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Town Clerk Department, 110 E. Main St. Candidates will be interviewed by the Los Gatos Town Council. Details: 408-354-6834.  

3. Make plans today to join the Friends of the Los Gatos Library tomorrow, June 21, 5-8 p.m., for a fun-filled evening preview of the  115 No. Santa Cruz Ave. Event will benefit the organization's Once in a Generation campaign for the new Los Gatos Public Library. Suggested donation is $20. 4. The capsule will be filled with current memorabilia. A commemorative plaque will identify the spot where the device will be buried and its marker will be dated Aug. 10, 2087, the date of the town's bicentennial anniversary and the capsule's opening date. Details: Pamela Jacobs, 408-354-6832.

5. Plan to get up early tomorrow so you won't be late! Join Los Gatos resident Brad Armstrong, co-owner of the Willow Glen Athletic Performance store, at 6:15 a.m. every Tuesday for a free track workout that includes combinations of 400- and 800-meter repeats and one-mile distances.
