5 Things You Need to Know Today, July 11

Admire the amazing work of artist Riki R. Nelson, who's showing her oil paintings of downtown Los Gatos at the Los Gatos Company gallery through the week of July 18.

1. Last chance to see the unique oil paintings of downtown Los Gatos by artist Riki R. Nelson, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the , 17½ N. Santa Cruz Ave. The exhibit will end the week of July 18. Details: 408-354-2433.

2. Make your reservations now for the 's annual dinner July 20, where its 2011 Business Person of the Year Darrell Bennett, its 2011 Most Valued Professional Darrell Monda, and its first Ambassador of the Year Jeana Moore will be honored. Guest speakers for the evening are local residents Peggy and Mike Gibbs, founders of Camp BizSmart. 3. Be sure to mark you calendar and remember to attend the free Los Gatos Wellness Festival on Wednesday, 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center, 208 E. Main St. The event will feature wonderful free services such as chair massages, blood pressure screenings, wellness assessments, in addition to lots of freebies and giveaways from Whole Foods, Walgreens, Jamba Juice, CareMore and more! 4. LGS Recreation’s 55 Plus Program will offer a fine art photography discussion and critique group 9 a.m. to noon starting Wednesday. The group will meet on the second Wednesday of every month, and its goal will be to help participants understand how to effectively critique photographs. Those interested must bring three 8-by-10 or larger sizes of their work. Details: 354-1514. 

5. San Jose Giants Summer Camps begin Monday and run through Thursday, and again Aug. 1-4, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., at 588 E. Alma Ave., in San Jose. The camps are an opportunity for children to learn and refine their baseball skills while they spend their summer days outdoors playing ball. Camps are instructed by current and former high school and college baseball players, and they progress through drills and instruction during the four-day period. Details: 408-297-1435.
