Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Foster City made the list of "The 10 Richest Small Cities In America," released today by Movoto, a real estate research blog.

"Home to Stanford University, Tesla Motors, and the late Steve Jobs, Palo Alto is one of the wealthiest spots in Silicon Valley, and one through which billions of dollars in tech money flows," writes Randy Nelson of Palo Alto which came in at No. 2.

Menlo Park was No. 5 and Foster City No. 8.

The group looked at 950 places with populations between 30,000 and 80,000, and ranked them by looking at per capita numbers of fine dining restaurants, fine clothing and jewelry stores, luxury car dealerships, country clubs -- and even the number of cosmetic surgeons per capita.

The top spot went to Bethesda, MD.
