1909 Los Gatos Sons of Union Veterans Drill

Patriotism was alive and well in town more than 100 years ago as evidenced by this historical photograph.

In his photograph, a spit-and-polish, standard gauge 4-6-0 engine can be seen arriving at the Los Gatos station, perhaps as a part of the celebrations on May Day, 1909.

A military drill is executed, probably by the sons of members of the Los Gatos Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans.
