The Wooden Main Street Bridge was built in 1882 and repaired several times before being replaced by a stone and concrete bridge in 1906. This was also known as "Hangman's Bridge" for an event that took place June 17, 1883 when a group of local vigilantes hanged a Californio named Incarnacion Garcia.
