is the only hat shop in downtown Los Gatos selling a large selection of head coverings in all sorts of patterns, shapes and sizes. The shop also has an impressive collection jewelry and hair accessories.
The boutique is owned by Janet Dashiell who, along with two employees, works on having a diverse selection of colors, brands and prices for her customers.

Los Gatos Patch: What did you dream of being as a kid?
Janet Dashiell: I really wanted to own a boutique in San Francisco.
Patch: How does your personality play into your business?
Dashiell: I really like being around people, talking to people and getting to know people. I truly am interested in where they are from and what they do and this ties into my business tremendously.
Patch: At what moment did you decide to open a business?
Dashiell: A business owner here in town was looking to sell her business and I decided to take it over. I changed the name to Black Swan, then to the current name, Black Cat.
Patch: What inspired you?
Dashiell: The sense of community in Los Gatos is so nice and there is such a good feeling here. That is what keeps me inspired. Also, to be my own boss is great.
Patch: Describe the biggest challenge of owning a business in the Town of Los Gatos?
Dashiell: Right now, the weather.
Patch: Describe the best thing about owning a business in the town of Los Gatos?
Dashiell: Los Gatos. It's just great. The people are wonderful and the visitors are really fun.
Patch: What is one thing you would never change about your business?
Dashiell: Personalized service.
Patch: What is your business' greatest asset?
Dashiell: My employees. I have two great employees.
Patch: What is your favorite spot in town?
Dashiell: There are so many. Lately while it has been raining I love . But I also love walking through Bunches.
Patch: What's one thing the community should know about you?
Dashiell: We do really try to help customers try to find the right hat and we want to help them. That includes special orders, fittings or anything else we need to do.
