After realizing there was a fitness approach to alleviating her neck problems, Rita Marcojohn became fascinated with the world of physical therapy and exercise. She started Back2Active to share her knowledge and help other Los Gatos residents. Her business carries an array of products to help those using computer equipment all day, which can cause neck and back problems. The store also sells yoga gear, office furniture and fitness products.

Los Gatos Patch: What did you dream of being as a kid?
Rita Marcojohn: A chemist. I got chemistry sets every year for Christmas.

Patch: How does your personality play into your business?
Marcojohn: I like people, I care for people and I am a problem solver. The people that come in here have a problem with their back or neck, and I help them solve that problem with my knowledge and products. That is fulfilling for me.
Patch: At what moment did you decide to open a business?
Marcojohn: It was at my office job after my neck started having trouble. I discovered there was a cure out there and how fitness contributed to that. After learning from doctors and chiropractors, I wanted to create a sort of middle ground to translate between doctors and incorporating fitness as an answer to help people that had problems just like me. Realizing I could help people that had these problems was the first moment.
Patch: What inspired you?
Marcojohn: After gaining knowledge that physical therapists and personal trainers had.
Patch: Describe the biggest challenge of owning a business in the town of Los Gatos?
Marcojohn: Getting customers to realize we are here.
Patch: Describe the best thing about owning a business in the town of Los Gatos?
Marcojohn: The active lifestyle and healthy people of Los Gatos. Some people spend almost the whole day in workout clothes. It is great.
Patch: What is one thing you would never change about your business?
Marcojohn: The fitness and education focus.
Patch: What is your business' greatest asset?
Marcojohn: We give customers information as well as access to professionals in the field.
Patch: What is your favorite spot in town?
Marcojohn: Opa.
Patch: What's one thing the community should know about you?
Marcojohn: That we are here and we have a lot of really fun stuff. It's not just about furniture and achy backs. We have a selection of fun good stuff, too.
