ROTARY CLUB OF LOS GATOS AWARDS $29,650 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

LOS GATOS, Calif., MAY 29, 2013 – The Rotary Club of Los Gatos (www.losgatosrotary.org) awarded students representing Los Gatos High School, Leigh High School and Independence High with scholarships totaling $29,650. The presentation was made to the students at the Rotary meeting held on Tuesday, May 7 at the regular lunch meeting. The students were recognized and informed the Club which school they will be attending in the fall and their major. The students who received scholarship awards are listed below: LOS GATOS HIGH- $16,550 Kristel Amboy Ben Baranosvsky John Braham Alyssa Go Ryan Hadley Samantha Ji Karla Jones Satya Noble-Bartlett Jay Sathe Aaron Silva Alyssa Steger Keegan Vega Michael Whalen Margaret Zukin LEIGH HIGH SCHOOL - $6,550 Arnela Colic Jung Wu Sara Sepasian Vincente Chavez Fierro INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL - $6,550 Michelle Banh Andrew Tran Alec Silver Fagarang Briana Patague “Our goal is to make a difference in our community for years to come and to provide tangible evidence that our club really cares about Los Gatos especially our youth and their future,” said Paul Christensen, Rotary Club President. Mr. Christensen continued, “We want future generations to see the value of community service and inspire others to follow in the process of making our town a great place to live.” The Rotary Club of Los Gatos established its Scholarship Fund in 1998. The scholarships are awarded from the income from the principal of the Fund. Over the past 15 years, the Fund has consistently provided substantial awards to our local scholars.
