This longtime local builder has been in business in town for two decades.
Terry J. Martin, 50, has been in business in Los Gatos since the '90s. His company, Terry J. Martin Associates, A.I.A., specializes in residential and commercial architecture. He started the Los Gatos company in 1992. He has personally lived or worked in Los Gatos since 1972. Martin runs his office along with partner Brad McCurdy and office manager Karla Opp. Its hours of operation are open when customers need its services. The east side of the Rinconada Shopping Center, 1500 Pollard Rd., has been graffitied by vandals with a black marker and red ink. Most disturbing is anti-Semitic graffiti that has been spray-painted on center's back wall with the words, "Juden." The complex, whose anchor business is the Safeway supermarket, contains more than 20 small businesses, including a Bank of America branch on the east side, near where some of the vandalism has occurred. According to center employees, the graffiti has gone unclean for at least a month and fresh silver paint had been applied to certain markings. The Los Gatos Lions Club hosted its Date Night gala fundraiser Saturday evening under the stars and in a 100-foot tent at Moore Buick GMC in Los Gatos. Attendees feasted on their favorite tastes and wines from Los Gatos restaurants and wineries, enjoyed the sounds of live jazz by The Summit Boys and bid on auction and raffle offerings. Proceeds benefited local Lions Club charities which provide mental health and counseling services. This was the club's second "Date Night." Courts order Kenneth Jack Eitzen to repair damage caused by abandoned construction project that caused December 2010 devastation.
A Saratoga landowner blamed for the 2010 mudslides in Bear Creek has been ordered by the courts to remedy an abandoned construction project that allegedly brought on the devastation. On April 23, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Daniel Ottiola issued an order imposing a mandatory injunction against the landowner. The order forces him to remove large rocks and boulders intentionally placed on a slope on his property, implement important erosion control measures and complete the original grading plan for the property, according to a news release. “This is a huge win for the Bear Creek community," said Nicole Gilmore, general manager of Bear Creek Master Association. Kaiser Santa Clara workers among those getting 3% raises.
Kaiser Permanente and a coalition representing 100,000 employees in 28 different unions reached a new three-year contract at 3 a.m. Saturday, the health care organization and the unions announced. The deal calls for 3 percent annual pay hikes for the 76,000 affected employees in California, and 2 percent in states ranging from Hawaii to Maryland, according to announcements made by the SEIU and Kaiser officials. Kaiser operates clinics and hospitals throughout Santa Clara County, including those in nearby Santa Clara and San Jose. A year ago, a 24-hour work stoppage hit Kaiser sites in San Diego and elsewhere in Southern California. Popular relaxation oasis won 60 percent of the vote in the Los Gatos Patch Readers' Choice poll this week.
The results are in and The Spa of Los Gatos has been named the best place to get some much-needed rest and relaxation in this week's Los Gatos Patch Readers' Choice poll. The Spa of Los Gatos received 60 percent of the votes and edged out O Spa Salon, which received 29 percent of the votes. Of the 41 votes received, The Spa of Los Gatos got 25 of them, followed by O Spa Salon, which got 12.
