Thomas Kinkade Autopsy: Lethal Level of Alcohol, Drugs in Painter's Body

Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's report finds Kinkade died of respiratory depression as a result of a high concentration of ethanol and tranquilizer benzodiazepine.

The body of the late painter Thomas Kinkade, who died April 6 of an apparent lethal combination of Valium and alcohol, was intoxicated with ethanol and Diltiazem and Diazepam, the autopsy report reveals. The latter two drugs, named in the eight-page report by their prescription names, are used to treat high blood pressure and to control angina, or chest pain and short-term relief of symptoms related to anxiety disorders, respectively. In addition, toxicology analysis revealed that Kinkade, 54, had also the presence of Nordiazepam, another drug used in the treatment of anxiety and tension and as a sedative, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant. A urine analysis also showed Kinkade's body had a presence of Oxazepam, which is used to relieve …

I agree! If he only knew how many people admired him and his paintings, he would not have turned to alcohol. He made the world a happier place.   more ›

Los Gatos Weekend, In Instagram

The following photos were snapped last weekend while hanging out in town with Patchers and friends while covering the Rotary Club's Great Race.

We're becoming quite addicted to Instagram and since it's part of our job to photograph the town as much as possible while we're out covering events, we're now tweaking some editor's picks with the $1 billion app! We love how the application allows us to manipulate the photos with the various filters it provides. We seem to favor two particular Instagram filters, X-Pro II and Lomo-fi. How about you? What filters do you choose for your favorite LG photos? Make sure and follow Los Gatos Patch on Instagram with the handle @losgatos_patch. We're posting wonderful photos once a week of the beautiful town we play, work and live in. Share your photos here, too. We would love to see your artistic flare!

Private funeral service was held on April 17 in Los Gatos, mourners asked to donate to Christian humanitarian organization helping children and families in Third World countries.

A private funeral service in Los Gatos was held on April 17 for the late American painter Thomas Kinkade, a close family friend said Wednesday. Los Gatos resident Linda Raasch, the godmother of the four Kinkade daughters—Merritt, Chandler, Winsor and Everett—said she, along with husband Ken Raasch attended the service, which was held under Redwood trees. Raasch said nearly 200 of his close friends and family, including brother Patrick Kinkade and sister Kate Johnson paid their respects to Kinkade, 54, who died  April 6 in his Monte Sereno home. Los Gatos Poetry Open Mic at Great Bear Coffee

Back by popular demand this year was the gathering of poets and non-poets alike at Great Bear Coffee in downtown Los Gatos to celebrate the written word.

Poetry Los Gatos, under the direction of Los Gatos poet laureate Parthenia M. Hicks, participated in a Community Open Mic event at Great Bear Coffee Tuesday evening. The session attracted about 40 residents, including 24 readers—writers and non-writers to the popular coffee shop. The gathering as one of several activities coordinated by Hicks in honor of National Poetry Month in April. Los Gatos boasts its own Poet's Canyon and poets such as Sara Bard Field, Charles Erskine Scott Woods as well as many visiting writers including John Steinbeck and Frank Norris have deep connections to the town, Hicks said. The open mic forum was a chance for those who love poetry to get together, hear some cool poetry, read a poem or just sit, relax and …

Poem: Cherokee Walking Wide Meditation

These beautiful verses were written by Los Gatos Poet Laureate Parthenia M. Hicks in response to Ken Bloomfield’s photograph, Pensive Monk, April 2012.

In the corner of my red eye Your crimson robe calls me in. Like a red-tailed hawk Circling a pow-wow on Mothers’ Day Your essence blesses me and I toe-heel my way onto your road   The Temple is close Your feet become mine Dusting the blond dirt My hands hold the prayer Beads that you count Behind your back I’m inside your shining head Listening to your mantra That I paint onto my forehead Like a warrior’s third eye   My fingers move the Rudraksha     Beads through yours   The Temples are full of ash and old tires Once in a while a fire is good   I can tell you are smiling although Your face is hidden.

Will Thomas Kinkade's Girlfriend Speak After 15-Day Injunction Expires?

Court documents reveal Judge Lucas granted a two-week injunction to prevent the painter's lover from violating confidentiality agreement terms.

A 15-day injunction against the girlfriend of the late American painter Thomas Kinkade is set to expire on April 30, leaving questions about whether the artist's lover for the past 18 months will adhere to a confidentiality agreement, a closer inspection of court records reveals. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Lucas signed the order on April 16 prohibiting Amy Pinto-Walsh from making statements or engaging in conduct that has the effect of defaming, criticizing, disparaging or discrediting Kinkade, his widow Nanette Kinkade, or any company owned by Kinkade. The temporary order is the first document contained in a file at the Santa Clara County Superior Court civil division located at 191 No. First St. in downtown San …

Restraining Order Hearing Against Thomas Kinkade's Girlfriend Postponed

Injunction is now scheduled for a case management conference on Aug. 21, 2012 in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

A court hearing scheduled this morning about a temporary restraining order sought against the girlfriend of the late American painter Thomas Kinkade has been postponed until Aug. 21. The order was filed this month by Windermere Holdings, LLC and Nanette Kinkade, the painter's wife, who is the trustee and executor of the Kinkade Family Trust and its estate. The hearing, which had been scheduled for 9 a.m., showed being "off calendar" this morning in Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Lucas' department 2. Court documents showed the case is now scheduled for a so-called management conference in the same courtroom in four months, meaning  attorneys for the Kinkade Trust, his widow Nanette and his girlfriend, Amy Pinto-Walsh, …

There are considerations, Irene. If he willingly chose not to live with the wife and was instead living with another partner for almost two years, it signals that his intentions were not exactly that he was not exactly deeply committed to his wife--painful as that is for her to accept. There is the legal implication of his estrangement, probably yet to be determined, but it sounds as if he was …   more ›
