Residents Help Police Apprehend Car Burglars

Three minors and one adult have been arrested by Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police officers for auto burglary and car theft.

Three minors and one adult have been arrested by Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police in separate incidents involving an auto theft and auto burglaries, according to a press release.

The first incident, police said, occurred July 21 at approximately 12:30 a.m., when police responded to calls from residents reporting two subjects who had been seen rummaging through vehicles in the area of Pine Wood Lane and Summerwood Drive.

Officers arrived and located two vehicles that had been burglarized and a stolen vehicle that had been left in the area that was still warm. They set up a perimeter and started a search of the area and a juvenile suspect was located and arrested, police said.

The second incident occurred July 31 at approximately 3:30 a.m., when residents called police and reported seeing suspicious individuals walking up and down driveways and between houses looking into vehicles and residences in the area of Potomac Drive and Longridge Road.

Officers searched the area and after a brief foot pursuit, they located three subjects, one adult and two juveniles. Upon detaining the subjects the officers located several items that had been stolen from vehicles in the area.

Over the course of the next two days residents called police and reported found items in the area, police said, adding that officers responded, recovered and returned stolen items to the victims.  

"In both of these incidents the police were alerted to the suspicious behavior by watchful neighbors. It was with the help of the community that these suspects were located and arrested," police said.
