Reader's Photos: More New Los Gatos Library News!
Total attendance during grand-opening weekend estimated at nearly 7,000; three lucky ladies given VIP tour to new facility on Feb. 9.
During the new Los Gatos Library grand-opening weekend, director Linda Dydo is reporting that nearly 7,000 people walked through its electronic slick glass sliding double doors at 100 Villa Ave.
On Saturday, during the official banner-cutting that read "Los Gatos Library It's Time To Shine," about 800 people blasted through its gates to the sound of the Los Gatos High School Drumline.
Then, Dydo said, more patrons came pouring in for a total of 4,100 on Saturday alone.
"And I think that is low, the poor door stopped counting at one point when eight folks at a time tried to get through," she said.
On Sunday, the total attendance number was 2,600, she said.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos Town Councilman Steven Leonardis shared these photos with us taken by Los Gatos photographer Peter Carter of the three lucky ladies who rode into the Feb. 9 VIP library soft opening in a white Rolls Royce provided by Los Gatos Luxury Cars.
Neelima Das, Kristin Bottenberg and Michele Chavez, with the Iron&Court Engagement Concierge company, bid and won the fancy chauffered ride during a benefit fundraising auction held last year for the Friends of the Los Gatos Public Library.
After their red-carpet tour of the new building, they were treated to dinner and drinks at Cin Cin WineBar.

Finally. When Los gatos residents tried to use the Campbell Library during the shut down and rebuild (a whole month), Campbell Library, under direction of the board, said that they would not allow the use of any of their libraries during that month. Including the Saratoga branch. UNLESS $80 was paid per person. Thanks Campbell we will remember that.
