Reader's Photos: Holy Crab Fest!

The Tuesday afternoon Rotary Club of Los Gatos held its annual Crab Fest and auction this past Saturday raising much-needed funds for local charities.

The Tuesday afternoon Rotary Club of Los Gatos presented its annual Crab Fest and auction last Saturday evening at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church's parish hall.

Proceeds from the $45 ticket sales benefitted homeless assistance organizations, Friends of the Los Gatos Public Library project, Los Gatos High School student activities and Second Harvest Food Bank. The club hopes to raise between $35,000  and $40,000 for charity.

Cooks Dave Hoffman, Craig Roberts and Andrew Stearns served more than 1,200 pounds of crab and pasta. Estimated attendance is between 400-425, according to organizers.

Help was provided by the Los Gatos High School Interact Club and Boy Scout Troop 501, Stearns said, who's club secretary.

The Rotary Club of Los Gatos was established in 1924 and is dedicated to serving the local and world community. Many projects are club members' attempt to live the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self," according to the club's website.

There are two Rotary clubs in Los Gatos. The Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club was chartered in 2003, and its mission is similar to its sister club—to give back to the community and improve the lives of those who live in Los Gatos.

Rumor has it that this was the best Crab Fest ever. While I'm part of the Los Gatos Morning Club-the Rotary Club of Los Gatos has been doing great things for over 80 years!!! Always proud to be a Rotarian especially when there are clubs like this one!

The Crab Fest is a great event that owes much of its success to the participation of local merchants. Thank you for your support through the years.

How generous of St. Mary's Church to allow the Rotarians to use their facilities for this great charity event! Kudos to the church for opening its doors in such a way and great work Rotarians. That's a nice chunk of cash to help those who are less fortunate. THANK YOU, ROTARIANS! YOU GUYS ROCK!
