New Los Gatos Tapas Bar 'Donostia' Officially Opens Feb. 11

Restaurant is owned by Enoteca La Storia owners Michael Guerra and Joe Cannistraci.

The name of Los Gatos' new tapas bar is Donostia and owners Michael Guerra and Joe Cannistraci held the first of several soft openings this Saturday.

The restaurant was approved by the Los Gatos Town Council Aug. 6. Guerra and Cannistraci also own Enoteca La Storia.

The other soft opening for Donostia, 424 No. Santa Cruz Ave., is tonight Monday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. by invitation only. The restaurant's formal opening to the public takes place Feb. 11.

Donostia is located in the Los Gatos Shopping Center owned by Jim Zanardi and is just three doors down fron ELS, next door to Bianco.

  • Donostia will offer a Spanish menu of pintxos, tapas, wines, ciders, beers and sherries to honor Spain's products and flavors
  • Chef Agustin Elbert has relocated from his home of San Sebastian, Spain, to lead the menu and kitchen. Guerra is leading the wine and sherry menu.
  • “Donostia” is the Basque name for San Sebastian and the birthplace of tapas

The tapas bar's hours of operation would be 3-10 p.m., Sunday and Monday; 3-11 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday; 3-12 midnight Thursday through Saturday. A bakery that will be allowed on the premises is not restricted to those hours.
