Los Gatos Nursing Homes Rank Best In Country

U.S. News & World Report gives five stars to Los Gatos Meadows, Los Gatos Oaks and The Terraces of Los Gatos for overall performance in health inspections, nurse staffing and quality of medical care.

The rankings are contained in a U.S. News & World Report article that listed Los Gatos Meadows Geriatric Hospital, 110 Wood Rd.; Los Gatos Oaks Convalescent Hospital, 16605 Lark Ave.; and The Terraces Of Los Gatos, 800 Blossom Hill Rd., each earning the coveted grades.

There are 61 nursing homes in the San Jose metropolitan area, 17 of which received an overall rating of five stars. The metro area includes Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale.

Los Gatos Meadows is a nonprofit 39-bed continuing care retirement facility. While receiving the five-star ranking, it also earned four stars or above in the areas of fire safety, nurse staffing, healthy inspections and quality measures such as percentages of residents who got recommended care such as flu vaccinations, and percentages of residents who had pain, bedsores, urinary tract infections, and other care-related problems

Los Gatos Oaks and The Terraces of Los Gatos are a 28-bed and 59-bed, respectively, continuing care retirement facilities, which also received four stars or above in the same areas.

The nursing homes have not been fined or denied payment in the last three years, according to the report.
