Los Gatos Chamber Names Michael Kane as Business Person of the Year

The has given businessman Michael Kane its 2012 Business Person of the Year Award.

Kane, 63, is president and CEO of Kane Investment Management, Inc., 15466 Los Gatos Blvd., suite 213, an independent firm offering investment management and financial planning services.

The single father of two grown daughters began the company 30 years ago, in 1982. "I'm honored to have received this award," he said, adding that it's quite a compliment to be in the same category as

An active community volunteer, Kane has served on the town's Planning Commission and Historic Preservation Committee as well as the boards of directors of the Los Gatos Morning Rotary, Jazz on the Plazz and the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce.

He also served as a member of the governing board of Los Gatos Community Hospital and the advisory board of El Camino Hospital Los Gatos.

Kane also volunteers as an usher captain at St. Mary's Church where he greets congregation members and helps with contribution collection. He also volunteers as an actor for the Summer Shakespeare Festival.

Kane's award is part of three honors the chamber presents in the summer to outstanding business professionals in Los Gatos who are then recognized with a special dinner at . This year's celebration will take place July 19.

Other honorees include and , which has earned the chamber's Business of the Year Award.

Also being honored this year is Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronee Nassi for her 10 years of service to the organization.
