Jill's Ride Supports Distressed Teens

Organizers hope to exceed last year's fundraising amount to benefit Los Gatos High School mental health services.

The Jill's Ride for Hope fundraising sporting event Saturday morning at seemed to be a success with more people biking, running or walking this year to support mental health services for teens dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, academic stress, low self-esteem and substance abuse, according to organizers.

All proceeds from the event, estimated this year to surpass last year's amount of $20,000, benefit the nonprofit CASSY—Counseling and Support Service for Youth.

The program operates out of LGHS at no charge to students in need and also honors the memory of Jillian Bailey Naber, who committed suicide March 15, 2009, after being the victim of cyber-bullying.
