Celebrating the Life of Timothy Halpin

More than 250 people gather Saturday morning to pay their last respects to beloved Los Gatos youth health advocate.

Tears of sorrow, joy and laughter were shed by more than 250 people Saturday morning who gathered around "Adoration Fountain" at Los Gatos Memorial Park to celebrate the life of Timothy Michael Halpin.

It was an appropriate tribute to a Los Gatos family that has lost so much. In December of 2008, Timothy's youngest son, Mikey Halpin, a 17-year-old senior at died after collapsing at school from an undetected heart condition.

Timothy tried to dull the pain by becoming an ardent youth health supporter, encouraging the early detection of heart conditions in young athletes, friends and family said at the service.

Between 25 and 30 men and women from various motorcycle clubs rode into the town's cemetery on their various motorcycles just before the service. They then dismounted and circled the fountain each bearing an American flag.

The audience then stepped inside the circle to see a pedestal that displayed Timothy's motorcycle vest and urn. A collage of photographs swayed in the wind in front of Halpin's loved ones reminding them of the love he shared and the warmth he brought into their lives.
