Calling Public to Participate in FOIA Survey

John S. Knight Journalism fellows at Stanford want your input on freedom of information.

John S. Knight Journalism fellows at Stanford University T. Christian Miller of ProPublica and Djordje Padejski, founder of the Center for Investigative Reporting in Belgrade, Serbia, are exploring ways to increase Freedom of Information Act usage and effectiveness worldwide.

They're also hoping to improve transparency, accountability and all things journalism. To that end, they're conducting a FOIA survey.

They would love to get input from power users like journalists, scholars, legal experts, but also the general public.

Whether or not you've used the FOIA process to gain access to information that your government keeps, they want to hear from you. It will definitely help Miller and Padejski learn. It will probably show them some projects to tackle. And it might even make the world a more transparent place!

The survey takes less than two minutes to complete. So please click here to take the survey.

FOIA requests allow citizens to ask their government for public records and information.

Padejski and Miller are trying to find out how and why people use this right to improve access to public information.

The survey is for the research purposes only. It will not be used to sell or market any products. All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential.
